Working at the laboratory

Someone dies from bowel cancer in the UK every thirty minutes. And Spain has an even higher incidence of the disease.

Many of these deaths could be prevented. Bowel cancer is treatable when diagnosed early, but only a tiny number of cases, around nine per cent, are caught in time.

Routine screening is the best way to catch bowel cancer before it becomes deadly. So, with April being Bowel Cancer Awareness Month, we are subsidising the cost of bowel cancer screening, reducing the price from €70 to €39.

Early symptoms of bowel cancer include –

  • Bleeding from the bottom and/or blood in stools
  • A change in bowel habit lasting for three weeks or more, especially diarrhoea
  • Unexplained weight loss
  • Extreme tiredness
  • Abdominal pain or lump

Having these symptoms does not mean you have bowel cancer, but you should see a doctor to get checked.

But remember, the best way to survive bowel cancer is to catch the disease early. Don’t wait for symptoms –book a simple bowel cancer screening test today.

Testing is easy

Bowel cancer screening could not be easier. All you need to do is use the kit we give you to provide a stool sample in the privacy of your own bathroom. Then bring the sample to us and we will get it tested and let you know the results. All for just €39 in April.

Pop into our Benijofar clinic Monday to Thursday, 9am to 5pm,  (see map) to collect your sample kit. Call 966 860 258 for details of Alfaz clinic testing.
