skin cancer woman worried

(posed by model)

Carol came to Medcare because she was concerned about  a skin cancer on her face. She needed surgery, but found that Medcare and her surgeon Dr Teresa Bernabeu Abad made the process as easy as possible. Here she shares her story…

A friend recommended Medcare because I was concerned about a basal cell carcinoma on my face.

At my initial appointment with the GP I was shocked to find I needed to have surgery by a plastic surgeon. This was because of the depth of the carcinoma and the fact that a clear margin is needed all around, and because of the amount of nerves in the face.

Within a few days I was seen by Dr Teresa Bernabeu Abad, who explained the surgery to me and told me what to expect afterwards. A couple of days later I saw the anaesthetist at Medimar Hospital in Alicante, and had my op in the day unit the following day.

Throughout the whole process, from my first appointment at Medcare, including a pre-op medical, until my follow-up appointments with Dr Teresa, I was more than pleased with the service and care that I was given.

At Medimar I was asked straight away if I would like a translator, which I accepted, and all the staff took great care to make me feel at ease.

My face is healing nicely and I’m pleased to know that I had best possible treatment for the best possible outcome.

I am grateful to Dr Teresa and her hospital team, as well as all at Medcare. (Carol Lambert)
