Sexual screening

If it is possible you may have a sexually transmitted disease (STD) it is important to get tested. Not all STDs will display symptoms but may do damage if you are unaware that you have contracted them and do not get the correct treatment.

People most at risk of contracting an STD, and most in need of sexual screening, are those who have had several sexual partners and men who have sex with other men. But, even if you have had very few sexual partners you could still contract an STD, so may still wish to consider sexual screening. Often people choose to be tested before embarking on a new relationship. We find that many people who take new partners later in life like to take the sensible precaution of sexual screening.

The main STDs you can be screened for are - chlamydia, genital herpes, gonorrhoea, genital warts, hepatitis B and HIV/Aids. Sexual screening is done by blood tests, urine samples and swabs.
