Eye lifts

As we age, excess skin forms in the eye area and the skin loses elasticity. Fatty tissue can also accumulate under the skin. Eyes start to look older, tired, wrinkled and puffy. Eye lift surgery refreshes the appearance of the eyes, opening them up, making the patient look and feel more awake and youthful.

Eye lifts surgery, otherwise known as blepharoplasty, removes excess skin, muscle and fat from upper and lower eyelids. It can reduce baggy skin under the eyes as well as drooping upper eyelids.

Blepharoplasty will sometimes be performed to treat a medical condition known as ptosis (drooping eyelid), which is caused by poor muscle tone or nerve damage. More often, though, patients undergo eyelid surgery to counter the ageing effects of time on the eyes.

The eyes are the focus of the face and mirror to our thoughts and feelings. Ageing eyes can make us look tired, sad or even angry – presenting emotions to the world that we simply don’t feel. As we age it is common for brows and lids to sag, which can leave us looking considerably older
