breast reduction surgeryBreast reduction surgery is one of our more popular procedures.

One of our patients, Jayne, is typical. She says: “I was a size 40H and because of the weight of my breasts I had been having trouble with my back for years.

The pain started when I was in my mid-20s. I am now 47 and had really had enough.

The weight pressing on my spine was giving me sciatica, I had shooting pains down my legs, my fingers and feet were tingling and I was losing my grip. My neck was also affected and it was becoming unbearable.

I was depressed and frustrated because of the pain. And the thought that it could only go on getting worse was leaving me feeling desperate.”

Jayne had tried to get breast reduction surgery on the NHS because of the health problems the weight of her breasts was causing. The NHS refused, and knowing she could not go on any longer as she was, Jayne came to us.

Like so many of our breast reduction patients, Jayne describes the surgery as life changing.

“My back felt better immediately and the constant ache between my shoulders has gone,” she says. “I am really happy with my new shape and looking forward to doing all sorts of things I couldn’t do before.”

Celebrity breast reductions

It may seem like everyone famous is having breast implants, but plenty of celebrities have undergone breast reduction surgery, too.

Drew Barrymore
The actress who had a breast reduction when she was a teenager said: “There’s something very awkward about women and their breasts because men look at them so much. When they’re huge, you become very self-conscious. Your back hurts. You find that whatever you wear, you look heavy. It’s uncomfortable.”

Ariel Winter
The Modern Family actress has said having her breasts reduced was one of the best decisions she has ever made. She described being 5’2″ with a 32F cup as “really ostracizing and excruciatingly painful”.

“It was an instant weight lifted off my chest – both literally and figuratively,” she said about going down to a 34D. “There’s a confidence you find when you finally feel right in your body.”

Soleil Moon Frye
At just 5’1″, the actress took a size 38DD bra. “It was hard for me even to give somebody a hug. I couldn’t sit up straight without people looking at me like I was a prostitute. My breasts became an insecurity.”

Marie Osmond
The singer admits to having a breast reduction when she was in her twenties. She says she took the decision partly because of back ache.
